Freelancer guide

From applying to answering enquiries, in 6 steps

This guide is for personal shops. Applying doesn't mean acceptance and doesn't guarantee orders. Hong Kong only.

The seller dashboard is currently in Chinese only, so the Chinese button and tab names are shown below with English translations.

  1. 1Submit your application

On thefreelancer application pagedescribe in a few sentences what you do and for how long, then choose a category. Work links and extra details are optional, but the more you write, the faster we can review. We'll then review your details, contact you for an interview if needed, and after you pass, arrange a few trial jobs.

  2. 2Log in to the seller dashboard

Accounts are invitation-only. Once your account is opened you'll get an email; then go to theseller dashboard, enter the same email and the 6-digit verification code to log in, with no password needed. The code is valid for 10 minutes; if you don't get it, check your spam folder.

The first time you log in, you need to read and accept the seller terms.

  3. 3Fill in your shop details

Under 「店舖資料」 (shop details), enter your shop name, a one-line introduction, a description (at least 20 characters), service hours and service areas, then tap 「儲存並提交審核」 (save and submit for review). Write only real experience and things that can be verified. Shop details are published after review.

  4. 4Upload photos of your work

Upload to your photo library on the 「相片」 (photos) tab, then choose photos for your shop album (up to 12) or for a service (up to 8; the first is the cover). Only use photos of work, tools or venues that you own or have permission to use; no portraits, customer details or ID documents. Photos are published after they pass review.

  5. 5Create a service from one sentence

Under 「我的服務」 (my services), tap 「+ 新增服務」 (add service) and describe in one sentence what you do, what's included, the price and where you go, for example (in Chinese):

    租盤攝影,一個鐘,15 張精修,$800,港島九龍

(Rental property photography, one hour, 15 edited photos, $800, Hong Kong Island and Kowloon)

After tapping 「幫我整理」 (tidy it up for me), the system pre-fills the service details. Check every item, especially what is and isn't included, how the work is accepted, revisions/redos and cancellation, then submit for review. To fill in each item yourself, tap 「手動填寫」 (fill in manually).

  6. 6Reply to customer enquiries

When a customer leaves contact details on your shop page, the enquiry is sent both to your email and to the 「查詢」 (enquiries) tab. Contact the customer directly as soon as possible to confirm the time and details, then mark it 「已聯絡」 (contacted), 「已成交」 (deal done) or 「冇成交」 (no deal). Customer details may only be used to reply to that enquiry.

FAQ

Are orders guaranteed?

No. Shane Services provides a listing and promotion; whether you get enquiries depends on customers' needs and your performance.

Do I have to pay?

Personal shops are currently listed free. Any charges for businesses will be announced before they take effect.

How do customers pay?

For personal shops, you and the customer settle directly; payments, refunds and disputes are between you and the customer, and the platform doesn't handle the money.

Am I a Shane Services employee?

No. You use the platform independently and are responsible for your own tax; if you run a business, you must register it as required by law.

Do I need to buy my own insurance?

Yes. You must buy suitable insurance yourself, including applicable third-party liability insurance, and provide a copy of the policy before listing. Shane Services' employees' compensation insurance does not cover you.

Do price or content changes need review?

Price changes within the platform's range take effect immediately; changes outside the range, categories without a set range, or content changes need review. While a change is under review, your current listing is unaffected.

Can I pause taking jobs?

Yes. Tap 「暫停」 (pause) under 「我的服務」 (my services) to take a service offline, and relist it later. You can also stop using the platform at any time.

How do I know if anyone is looking at my shop?

Once your services are listed, the dashboard shows views and enquiries for the last 7 and 30 days. In weeks with activity, a summary email is sent on Monday, which you can turn off in the dashboard. View counts are approximate, for reference only, and don't guarantee orders.

What if my service doesn't pass review?

Read the review comments under 「我的服務」 (my services), make the changes and submit again.
