Laminate floors (including laminated and engineered wood) have different surface finishes, and not all of them are suitable for waxing. Shane Services first assesses the floor's condition and surface type, then decides whether to do cleaning and care only, or whether a protective layer is suitable.

Waxing / wax stripping is priced per sq ft, with a minimum charge of HK$2,400. Same-day and evening jobs carry a surcharge (as with ordinary cleaning). Laminate floors are assessed on site; solid wood floors are not taken on for now.

Why assess first?
Some laminate floors already have a wear layer, and unsuitable wax can leave them sticky, marked or unevenly shiny. Some manufacturers advise against wax or specify certain care products. Before quoting, it's best to send floor photos and the brand or installation details.
When it's suitable
If the shine has faded, with light wear or everyday marks, and the surface is in good condition, we can usually assess cleaning and care or a suitable protective layer.
How it works
We usually check the floor condition first, clean it gently without much water, and only treat it according to the assessment once it's dry.
Limits
Waxing or care can't repair deep scratches, bulging, water damage or a peeling surface. If the floor itself is badly damaged, we first judge whether care is suitable.
How it's priced
Manual laminate floor waxing is priced by area, tools and supplies included. The rate per sq ft and minimum charge are in the quote table below. We only take on laminate floors; solid wood floors (which need a dedicated sanding machine) are not taken on for now. Same-day and evening jobs carry a surcharge (as with ordinary cleaning).

Can laminate floors be waxed?▾
It depends on the floor and its surface finish. Some can use suitable care products and some shouldn't be waxed, so it needs assessing first.
Will the floor be slippery after waxing?▾
Unsuitable products or too thick a coat can make it more slippery. We assess the floor and remind you not to walk on it until it's dry.
How is laminate waxing different from vinyl waxing?▾
The materials and surface finishes differ. Vinyl is mostly used in commercial spaces, and the process and products differ from wood-type surfaces.
Can you clean first and then decide about waxing?▾
Yes. In most cases we clean and assess first, then decide whether a protective layer is needed.
It's been waxed before. Can it be waxed again?▾
If the old wax is uneven or yellowed, it may need stripping first, then we decide based on the floor.
