When it's needed
For vinyl floors, some commercial floors and floors that have been waxed many times. Common signs are dark patches, peeling wax, a sticky feel underfoot, uneven shine, or wanting a full floor maintenance.
How it works
We check the floor material and the old wax first, strip it with a suitable method, remove the dirty water, and decide on re-waxing once the floor is fully dry.
Why not just add new wax?
If the old wax is dirty or uneven, new wax just sits on top and the result is limited. Stripping before waxing gives a cleaner, more even finish.
How it's priced
Wax stripping is priced by area, tools and supplies included. The rate per sq ft and minimum charge are in the quote table below. Stripping and waxing can be booked together, with the items added up; same-day and evening jobs carry a surcharge (as with ordinary cleaning).
Limits
Wax stripping can't repair damage, lifting, deep scratches or aged, warped flooring. If the floor is in very poor condition, we first judge whether maintenance is worthwhile.

Will stripping damage the floor?▾
The method has to suit the floor material. It's best to send floor photos before quoting so the wrong method isn't used.
Do I have to re-wax after stripping?▾
In most cases we recommend it; otherwise the floor has no protective layer and wears and holds dirt more easily.
Can dark old wax be removed?▾
If the darkening is mainly on or in the old wax, stripping helps. If the floor itself is discoloured, it may not fully recover.
How long will the office be out of use?▾
It depends on the area and drying time. Night or holiday work can reduce disruption.
What's the difference between stripping and scrubbing?▾
Scrubbing cleans surface dirt; stripping deals with the old wax layer, a deeper step before waxing.
